Who we are

This platform is operated by Team Mac on behalf of Peter Mac, candidate for Deputy in District 3 (St John, St Lawrence, Trinity), Jersey. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” in this notice mean Team Mac.

We are the controller of personal data collected through this website. Questions about this notice or your data can be sent to privacy@petermclinton.je.

What we collect and why

Account registration. When you create an account we collect your email address, a display name you choose, and optionally your parish. We use this to identify you on the platform, send you account-related emails (such as a confirmation link), and associate your posts and comments with your account.

Posts, comments, and voices. Content you submit is stored and, once approved, displayed publicly. We record which account submitted each post and comment so moderators can act on reports and so you can see your own submissions.

Votes and voices. We record which posts you have added your voice to in order to prevent duplicate voting. This record is not displayed publicly — only the total count is shown.

Usage data. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and our database provider (Supabase) collect standard server logs including IP addresses and request timestamps. We do not run separate analytics software on this site.

Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of your consent (when you create an account and agree to these terms) and our legitimate interest in operating a civic engagement platform in accordance with Jersey's Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

Where your data is stored

Account data and all platform content is stored in the European Union (Ireland / EU-West region) using Supabase infrastructure, and served via Vercel's global network. Both providers have appropriate data processing agreements in place.

How long we keep your data

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, your profile is deleted. Your posts and comments will be anonymised — the content remains visible but your name is removed — unless you ask us to delete the content too.

Server logs are retained by Vercel and Supabase according to their own retention policies, typically 30–90 days.

Your rights

Under Jersey data protection law you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict how we process it, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@petermclinton.je. We will respond within one calendar month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you have the right to complain to the Office of the Information Commissioner, Jersey.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. The session cookie is strictly necessary for the platform to function.

Changes to this notice

If we make material changes to this notice we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email.
